The Qualls Family Reunion Wrap Up Meeting was held July12, 2009 in the Hospitality Room of the Ramada Inn, Memphis TN. The meeting was called to order at 6:08 p.m. by Sylvester Rhodes, President. The following items were discussed:
1.Congratulations to the Phoenix hosts on a job well done for the 2008 Family Reunion.
2. Sharonda Jones suggested at the 2008 Wrap-up Meeting that the Qualls Family do a cruise for the 15th year Anniversary for the Qualls Family Reunion. A vote was taken to determine if the family would be interested in doing this. The vote was 28 to 21 against doing a cruise for the Qualls Family Reunion. President Rhodes asked if the people who voted for the Cruise would consider doing a cruise in addition to the regular Family Reunion. Some concerns raised with this issue were: -People who went on the Cruise would not attend the regular reunion for that year. -People would have difficulty scheduling time off for both events
3. The position of Vice President is up for election. As Robert Prophet was the only name presented, he was reelected as Vice President of the Qualls Family. His term is for 3 years. Elections for President, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer will be held in 2010.
4. The recommended site for the 2010 Qualls Family Reunion is Denver, CO. Jesse Hampton presented info for the tentative dates of June 25-27 at the Embassy Suites. A motion was made by Shirley Owens and seconded by Takeshia Rhodes to accept the recommendation site and dates. The motion carried. More info will be available in the Family Newsletter scheduled for late October or early November.
5. A Motion was made Robert Harmon and seconded by Shirley Owens to make the Embassy Suites the official hotel for all future Qualls Family Reunions and to not limit the Family Reunion dates to either the 3rd weekend in June or the 2nd weekend in July. The Reunion would be held on the most convenient date for the Host State. The Motion carried.
6. Family Dues-Thanks to everyone who paid their family dues. The Purpose of the Family Dues is to establish seed money for the host city to put down deposits for reservations, postage for letters, and any other commitments needed before registration money starts coming in without having to come out of their own pockets. Even if you are not planning on attending the reunion in a certain year we still need your family dues to be sent or paid to help offset the cost of the reunion. To this end we will be asking everyone to pay their dues for the next year when they check in for Registration at the Meet/Greet. Those of you who did not pay your family dues for 2009 at the 2008 Wrap-Up meeting are asked to send your money to: Juanita Harmon 1645 Rutherford Chicago, IL 60607
If you have not paid your dues when you send in your 2009 Registration form and money, your $25.00 will be taken off the top of what you send in, and you may have still have a balance due for whatever Reunion activities you want to participate in.
